Long. Interviewed with recruiter, then department recruiting, then a all day 8 hour interview process where you do a “teach out” and part of it is sharing how you became a Christian. I get it. LTU is a private Christian institution. Not everyone has a personal crisis or loss of faith that brings them to Christ. Some people are actually raised in a Christ centered home where the love Christ had for those around Him are modeled. No running down a church isle wailing about their sinful lifestyle begging Christ for forgiveness and in a moment of revelation ask that Christ forgive them of their wicked ways. Some are raised that we love every person as Christ would have. Let’s face it… Christ didn’t surround Himself with sycophants. Instead He surrounded Himself with thief’s, whores, politicians, “jail birds”, etc. and spoke of His Father and showed them His love. When I spoke of my upbringing and Christ being the head of our household and the quiet way I accepted Christ, and what was expected of us in exemplifying His love and teaching I literally saw more than a couple of the instructors rolling their eyes. A couple weeks later I received the “thanks but no thanks” phone call. When I asked what was the factor to make me being one of the ones not selected I was given a curt “we received the feedback from the instructors at your teach-out”.
