The CEO connected with me through a mutual friend, and we discussed the business and role on the phone. Nice guy, and a startup with an interesting value proposition. I then went to their office for an interview, during which they asked me to talk about each of my roles (and my time in college) for a solid 15min per role while their marketing manager took notes. I wasn't given a chance to ask any questions about the company, strategy or position. It was a one-sided interview. We ended the interview at the point where I was midway through narrating my career history, about 90min into the meeting. I was told on-site that I'd come back in a few weeks and continue the interview from where we left off. I didn't hear back from the CEO ever again. About 4 or 5 weeks after my first interview, I wrote him an email letting him know I was available if they wanted to meet again. I still never heard back. It was a pretty dismal experience, especially for a startup that isn't dealing with hiring a massive number of roles. They should have the decency to follow up with candidates, particularly those they reach out to in the first place.
