      Customer Service Representative Interview

      13 Apr 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Lite n Easy

      Interview

Interview was fine, its what came next that was bizarre. Having to pee while having someone stare directly at you in a drug and alcohol test and then a full-on physical fitness examination. Really odd for a low-paid customer service role. If I’d known what the drug and alcohol test entailed, I wouldn’t have agreed to begin with. Really bizarre.

      Melbourne
      Declined offer

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Lite n Easy (Melbourne) in Jun 2025

      Interview

Originally I was sent an email saying I didn't get the role but then the next day was told they'd like to call me and talk more over the phone. This is just a hunch but I don't think I'm alone in my experience and others pulled out. First there was the phone screening where I brought up another review here claiming you had to urinate in front of someone and me and the recruiter found it ridiculous and she claimed the drug and alcohol test was just a mouth swab. We found it genuinely funny. Turns out though the reviewer was right and I've only found out way down the line, at the final stage, they do require someone to watch you urinate. After the phone screening there is the assessment centre which goes for 2-3 hours. I attended the day straight after the call which felt quick. It was the first time I heard of the medical exam, it's not on the job listing, but I was still not informed of things such as no female doctor being available or a supervised urine sample. Then after the assessment is the pre employment medical. Initially I was told if I wouldn't allow physical contact with a male doctor I would not progress as I had to do the medical exam and that was the only way but I stood firm and they said they would find a female doctor for me. Originally finding a female doctor, in Melbourne CBD, was something they wished I gave them more time to do due to their short "turn around" but they found one in 20-30 minutes. They also now wanted a urine test instead of a simple swab which also takes more time. They also expect you to tell them if you want a female doctor with more time I gave them but according to my emails I made them aware only hours after I was informed I would be attending a medical exam and within the hour I got the confirmation email which shared no details (doctor's name, gender, supervised urine tests, etc). In addition to that the medical was moved up by a week and the work/training didn't start for weeks. Overall I felt they were just very inconsistent and not forthcoming. I was at the final stage, they said the pre employment medical was the last thing before a letter of offer and I hope they're not subjecting people to invasive tests before knowing they'll be hired, but I'm not urinating in front of someone for a company that I feel has lacked empathy, especially when it came to my boundaries, and not considerate of my time. I would be comfortable with a blood test, even a hair test, which would show drug use from far further back then a urine test but I'm not degrading myself. They suddenly notified me of it remembering I was uncomfortable, supposedly, but didn't even apologise. The pre medical apparently takes up to an hour so combine that with the three hour estimate for the assessment centre you're looking at about four hours of total time being in person.

      Question 1

Availability, if the pay rate is acceptable ($29 an hour full time), if you're okay with a drug and alcohol test, various questions during group tasks in the assessment centre, and references.
