Locogen contacted me via LinkedIn and encouraged me to apply. That was
late November, and they said they were hoping to fill the post before
Christmas.
As of mid-January, they weren't close to making a decision. I’d had
two phone screens, as well as an in-person interview with three
people, including the CEO himself (I got a breakfast roll, so that was
a bonus, but sometimes felt I was less important than the puppy who'd
come to the office that day). I was told that if I moved forward in
the recruitment process, they’d probably have a fourth interview to
have me meet some of the team members.
It was difficult to understand why they couldn't have tacked on a team
meet-and-greet to an interview that was scheduled for 75 minutes but
actually ran to half an hour more than that. (I ended up taking half a
day off work for this interview!) It didn't say much for their
efficiency, which at least confirmed that they very much needed an EA
to organise them - this was basically what they laid out as the
primary responsibility for this role.
A week after that - two months to the day after I applied - I emailed
them to say I had a job offer elsewhere, and was unsurprised to be
rejected, though they did get back to me the next business day.
The irony was that the rejection said 'we do however believe that our
vacancy is not perfectly suited', even though their job advert
emphasised that ‘No candidate will meet every single desired
criteria.’ But if they’re looking for perfection, that’s their choice.
