I applied through the online process and received an e-mail a couple weeks later stating that they were pursuing other candidates. However, a few days later, I received a phone all from HR asking to schedule an interview. We did the interview the next day. She was very thorough in explaining the job tasks, hours, start and end date (temporary employee), and how to apply for a permanent position. I asked the pay rate, and she told me the base was $9.03, and it could be more based on specialized experience. I also asked what makes an exceptional Lowes CSA and she stressed customer service. She asked me six questions including: name a time you made a mistake and how you corrected it, tell me about a time you made a promise to a customer and couldn't deliver, explain a time you went above and beyond for a customer, etc. She was very friendly and informative and scheduled an interview with an assistant manager the next morning. The assistant manager was very down to earth and immediately put me at ease. We chatted about Lowes and particular life situations before the questions started. He asked me about six questions that were similar to the first six and included: tell me about a time you had a difficult customer, explain a time you went above and beyond for a customer, tell me about a time you had to work on a project with a coworker, name a time you made a mistake and how you corrected it, etc. Then the last two questions were: why do you want to work at Lowes and something like what characteristics do you think contribute to the best retail environment. I felt that the interview went really well, and I waited a week for a decision as the HR person was on vacation. On the exact date that they told me I would hear a response, she called me and offered me the position. Now I am waiting a few days for a background check then she will call me for a drug test and I will begin work in two weeks.
