One screening call, one in-person interview with two senior marketing people. I was told by two interviewers (without solicitation) that they were recommending me for advancement to next phase of the hiring process.
After several days, I was informed I would not be offered the job but that the company would like to work with me on a contract basis. I accepted that invitation and initiated discussion via email with the hiring manager the same day. She finally returned an email and asked for my contract rates (which align with the industry standard). Again, I received no response at all. Nothing for weeks. Ghosted.
Red flags: I was informed during my in-person interview that the company doesn't yet have any products, and that's a good metaphor for the entire interview experience. One person told me that if I was hired and had an assignment for which I required additional information, I could ask but I probably wouldn't receive any because that's just how things work there.
Very kind, very friendly people, but a company without a perceptible sense of accountability, commitment, or common professional courtesy.
