So it began with a group interview with 20 other candidates. We were then split into two groups and given tasks such as performing demos, describing products etc. Everyone was lovely, albeit the managers seemed a bit dismissive toward us in their body language (not giving eye contact when spoken to, asking very vague questions about ourselves and clearly not really listening to our answers). We then were all asked for times in which we could do an hour 1/2 trial shift the next day - receiving an email at half eight that evening offering me one (a bit late notice to be honest).
I get to the trial shift, was told to wait around for the managers. Then was given a brief 5 minute convo about what they expect us to do (not be nervous, but also, perform at least one demo (???)) We were then given a, what felt like 2 minute tour of the shop floor then sent straight into the shift.
I managed to give a lot of demos and sell atleast 5 items, spoke to and introduced every customer pretty much (ones that seemed approachable of course, IE weren't wearing earphones etc). It was very stressful and I had to ask some staff for help as, like mentioned previously the managers didn't really do much.
Here's the part that really let me down.
I finished my shift, then a manager took me out back to get ready to leave. They invited me to a training evening then next day, and so of course I thought 'brill, Ive got a chance here'. I call up the next morning asking for the times of the training event to which I am told and I begin to get ready.
Then, 20 minutes later, I get rejected via email.
If you would like to work in an establishment that values clear communication and respect toward new staff, then I do not recommend this London based Lush store.
Maybe I am sensitive, or maybe, I just want to be treated with some sort of respect and consideration.
