      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at MED-EL (Innsbruck) in Jan 2026

      Interview

Interview Process: The interview process was extensive and well-structured but also very demanding. In total, it involved multiple stages over several weeks. The first round was a combined discussion with HR and the hiring manager, focusing on background, motivation, and high-level role expectations. The second round was a deep technical interview with IAM experts and the manager, covering identity lifecycle management, IAM concepts, tools, and real-world scenarios. The final stage was an onsite interview in Innsbruck, for which the company arranged travel, hotel, and expenses. During the onsite visit, I had several interviews on the same day: A detailed HR discussion covering salary, visa process, relocation, and onboarding A technical and behavioral interview with the IAM team and manager A panel interview with the ITSM team A short discussion with senior leadership (C-level) The interviews were thorough and challenging, involving both technical depth and non-technical aspects such as communication, collaboration, and problem-solving. Difficulty: High. The process requires strong IAM technical knowledge, clear communication, and the ability to handle multiple interviews with different stakeholders in a single day. Outcome & Communication: While I appreciated the professionalism during the interview process and the opportunity to meet the teams in person, the final outcome was communicated via a brief phone call without detailed clarification. This was particularly difficult given the level of effort, preparation, and time invested, as well as successfully progressing through all interview stages, including senior leadership discussions. More transparent and detailed feedback at the final stage would greatly improve the candidate experience, especially after such an intensive and multi-round process. Overall Impression: MED-EL appears to be a professional organization with knowledgeable teams and a structured hiring process. However, the final-stage communication could be improved to better reflect the significant commitment expected from candidates.
