I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at MIT Lincoln Laboratory (Lexington, MA) in Nov 2024
Interview
The first round interview was a 30 minute zoom call with an assistant group leader, which consisted mostly of going over my resume and experiences. It was pretty casual and the interviewer was very warm. Next was a 15 minute call with HR to discuss salary expectations and benefits - very straightforward, told me straight up what the range was and what I could expect in an offer. The final interview was about 3.5 hours long, and consisted of going around the lab speaking with technical staff, the group leader, another assistant leader, then more technical staff, in that order. The end of the interview was my giving a 30 minute presentation to the group. Almost every person I talked to was extremely kind and friendly, which made talking to them all very easy and comfortable.

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at MIT Lincoln Laboratory (Lexington, MA) in Feb 2014
Interview
I met an employee at a conference and had an informal interview there. Then a phone interview with someone at the level I would have been working at and a superior. Then a full-day on-site interview including a job talk and meetings with several teams.

Question 1
The most difficult part of the interview was preparing an appropriate job talk, but the questions asked after weren't too difficult.
