I applied online. I interviewed at Macmillan in Mar 2015
Interview
Phone screen was basic with fairly easy questions. My working experience, expectations for the position, specific interest in any particular imprint. I applied for a design position, but the HR person didn't seem to know if there would be any design internships available, so she described a program that lets interns rotate through different departments.
Had a casual video call with an employee of the marketing team, answered basic interview questions, later received an assignment via email, completed it, and was ultimately rejected after submission
Very straightforward, interviewed once with a senior art director and an associate senior art director who became my direct supervisor as an intern. We talked about my design experience and skills, what I was doing in school, book and design trends and the different requirements for the job.

Question 1
What is your experience level with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop?
It was a very conversational interview with a lot of room for questions. Very open about how the internship operates, asked about how past experience might apply to the tasks.
