I had a disappointing and questionable interview experience for the Quant Developer position.
Prior to the interview, I completed a take-home coding task and submitted it well in advance. I put in significant effort and was confident in the quality of my solution.
However, during the live technical interview (held on Thursday 5th December 2024 at 11:30 GMT), the interviewer — a senior engineer on the team — began asking me questions that didn’t seem to match my code. After a few such questions, I politely asked whether he had reviewed my submission. He paused and admitted that he had been looking at another candidate’s code due to an email “mix-up.”
While mistakes happen, what struck me as suspicious was that he immediately pulled up my correct submission — without delay or searching — as if he already had access to it all along. This gave the impression that he may have intentionally started with the wrong material, which made the rest of the interview feel awkward and disingenuous.
Following the interview, I received no feedback — not even a rejection email — which further reinforced the feeling of a lack of professionalism and transparency in the process.
I’m sharing this in the hope that the company takes candidate experience seriously, ensures its hiring practices are fair and respectful, and addresses any internal process issues that may lead to biased or pre-decided interviews.
