What a waste of time… I’ll start with saying I had an excellent interviews, one of the best I’ve ever had, I really enjoyed them. Unfortunately the issues arose pre and post interviews. Pre - Interview I discussed with the recruiter the salary range that was posted and agreed I would be interested in the top end of the range even though I presently made more. From there we moved forward with interviews with the hiring manager and then a panel interview with another manager. I did very well in those interviews and following the interview the next few days the recruiter reached out saying he had some good news and would like to give me a call. When he called he stated I did very well in interviews and they would like to extend an offer but due to “internal equity of the company” it would be lower offer than discussed. Actually it was another 20k lower. He said he could work with HR and get me a sign on bonus and would get back to me with the official offer by the end of the week. I told him that I was ok with this because I was really interested in this role. The end of the week came and I checked in and he said he was still working with HR on the offer. The next week comes and I hadn’t heard from him so I reached out again and he responded that unfortunately due to “budget constraints” they can no longer extend the offer! What!? Never in my professional career have I ever experienced anything like this. I did but expect this from a company like Marriott. A complete waste of my time and I just am left very confused with the whole ordeal.
