The first phone interview went great. I was then invited for a 2nd phone interview to speak with the person I'd be working closely with. After not receiving the scheduled call, I followed up and it took a day for her to respond back before the interview with that person was rescheduled. Once rescheduled, the call came in late (I understand things can get busy but for the 2nd time?); however, it actually went very well. It seemed both interviewers were happy with my candidacy. They told me to give them a week to finish up other calls.
I sent a thank you email to both and the following week I followed up with the main interviewer. When I didn't hear back by the end of the week, I followed up with the 2nd interviewer. Oddly, within a few minutes, the 1st interviewer emailed me back with the email subject line: 'Update after onsite interview'; informing me they have decided to move ahead with others. Note, I never had an 'onsite' interview, just two phone interviews.
While I was excited about this role, I felt the main interviewer wasn't the most professional or organized in communication. Of course, I thanked them for the opportunity and had requested feedback for their decision. While they're not obligated to provide feedback, it seemed only fair since there didn't appear to be any drawbacks with my candidacy. Not the best experience for such a highly anticipated company.
