      Sr. Electrical Engineer Interview

      8 Sept 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Munich, Bavaria
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at Medtronic (Munich, Bavaria) in Aug 2020

      Interview

I was contacted by a Headhunter which forwarded my CV to the hiring manager. He liked my CV and invited me for a video conference. First interview with hiring manager (30 min). Easy interview, simple technical questions related to the position. Due to Covid all interviews were done through video Conference. Second interview took three hours. There were three interviewees: one director, one specialist and the hiring manager again. Only technical questions very deep into hardware design. They showed me their design and started asking questions why they did like that, and how I would do. Also a lot of questions regarding my own background and how I would make decisions regarding hardware design. The questions themselves were not hard, they were easy. The whole process were very long and with many delays. The position was cancelled, then the hiring manager got the approval to have the position again... Very very long and slow process. Although I had an initial positive experience with them, as they never responded my emails or phone calls regarding a decision to make me an offer or not (I tried to contact them 4 times), my overall experience was negative. I heard from the headhunter that I was the second in the line for an offer, that they made an offer to another candidate which took one month to accept it! In the meanwhile they avoided contact to keep me as a possible backup, in case the other candidate declined the offer. I would prefer that they have told me the truth, and informed me about their decision. I know I am in a competition with other candidates, and being declined or offered a job is part of the game. I missed more transparency and honesty in their process.
