Behavioral and very light - talked about market knowledge and if I had any prior experience working in teams and with CRM Softwares. Had 2 rounds of phone calls and in-person interviews before getting the offer.
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Merrill (New York, NY) in Aug 2018
Interview
This review is for the Private Wealth Management Division. Merrill's WM is broken up into different teams that are each lead by 1 or more FAs, and each basically functions as its own mini-company with guidance from the Office Management team and other Merrill resources. So when you interview, know that each team has its own personality and dynamic. I interviewed with 2 different teams and chose to join the one with the highest growth of new clients and with members who I personally got along with very well. Each team has different processes and different ways of utilizing their interns, so make sure you ask them about your tasks and their expectations for interns. Some have their interns cold call, some don't, etc. Most of the FAs are simply looking for someone who is hard-working, detail-oriented, thrives in a team environment (hello athletes), willing to learn, is confident, and has a positive attitude. Simple as that.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Merrill
Interview
Resume screen through employee referral followed by an in-person multi-round interview with several members of the team. Each mostly behavioral based with some basic technicals, specifically on various asset classes and their trends in the current market conditions.
I applied through university. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Merrill (Oklahoma City, OK) in Sept 2019
Interview
Heard about an opening, applied, then was called in for an interview within two weeks. It was fairly simple — the longest part was going in for a background check and fingerprint scanning which took about a week to get the results back.
