I exchanged email with the hiring manager. He asked me when I want to come in. I provided dates. Then I got into their HR process. I have 2 decades of very strong experience in telecom in cluding patents and contribution to standards. So I did not see an issue in getting a job in another telecom company. But at the HR process things got strange. After a brief phone screening, I was told they would get back to me around the middle of the month. Then I got an email saying position will be on hold for a month and they will contact me. The email was sent from a personal gmail email that isn't an official company email. I heard nothing for more than a month. I followed up later with both HR and hiring manager and got no response back. This whole thing seemed very shady. A company should have the basic courtesy to give candidates who are following up some closure. Especially, in my case where the hiring manager had asked me when I want to come in, and then all of a sudden goes totally silent seem utterly strange. No one should work for these kind of companies.
