      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Michaels (Pittsburgh, PA) in Jun 2019

      Interview

I applied online for a Support Specialist position (basically a team member/cashier) on a Thursday. I got a call back Tuesday and set up an interview for that Thursday. I initially missed the call and had to give the manager a call back, but she was super nice and easy to get ahold of. I got to the interview ten minutes early and waited maybe five minutes before she arrived. The interview itself wasn't much: mostly, it was confirming my availability, asking what position I wanted to work as (cashier or floor or unloading) and told me about the duties of the job, the dress code, where in the store I'd be working, etc. She asked what starting wage I would prefer and worked with me though every step-- she was super friendly! On my application, I wrote that I wanted fulltime but she said she only had part time work available, but told me a range of hours to expect if I chose to continue and gave me additional options that could give me more hours if I wanted them. I can't express just how friendly and excited she seemed to have me on board. She said she was low on staff and needed some extra hands so a lot of interviews were currently going on that week, so that explains the quick acceptance. She sent me a link that night to get paperwork started. As of Saturday I haven't heard back, but she told me ahead of time that she may be busy so I'll check in if there's no word in a few days. For my background, I have a BFA and some office experience.

When are you available? Would you prefer working on the floor, as a cashier, as a framer, or as an unloader?
