My initial interview was scheduled at a time set by the recruiter. Once they were on, they showed no engagement; they made it clear this was the end of their day and that they were looking to wrap up.
I had spent extensive time preparing for this initial interview, including researching the company and reflecting on how my experience could make an impact.
The recruiter repeatedly interrupted me while I was answering their questions and asked irrelevant questions, such as asking whether I would need to give notice for a role I was not currently employed in. This signaled to me that they were not following my responses, referencing my résumé, and were not prepared for the call.
About 13 minutes in, the recruiter unexpectedly disconnected, leaving the meeting open on my end, and then sent a one-line follow-up email stating their laptop died.
As someone with experience hiring and evaluating candidates, I respect candidates enough to value their time. I am sharing my experience regarding this interview for those considering opportunities with this company.
