Applied online and about a week and a half later received a phone call to schedule a phone interview. Scheduled the interview for a couple days later.
The phone interview was a "structured interview" meaning every employee in the company is asked the same list of questions. There were probably 40 or more questions that sounded as if she was reading them off a sheet of paper mono tone, there was no conversation it just felt like a very bland q and a that went on way to long. I would answer a question and she would not respond to my answer what so ever, just would move onto the next question so as this lengthy (30-40min) interview went on I felt as if things got more and more awkward, I mean how long can one really talk to themselves? thats what it felt like, i was having a conversation with myself.
I was also not impressed with the interview questions. I feel like I was never given the chance to explain my qualifications, education, or anything true about myself. I just got to answer questions endlessly that really did not feel very relative to the position I was applying for. I get that they were probably trying to get a sense of me as a person but there is a point where it just doesn't make sense to keep asking meaningless questions that didn't relate to the jobs function.
She also never went over the job duties at all, never talked about any details regarding the company or the job. I believe an interview is just as much about you interviewing the company as it is about them interviewing you and when I hung up I was ready to call back and ask to pull my application because based on that interview and who interviewed me that is not a company id want to work for.
Also, I was applying for a spa locker room attendant, a position I have held in the past and succeeded greatly at. I have years of customer service experience, years of cleaning experience, i have ran my own business, I have a college degree, I am well over qualified for a minimum wage locker room cleaning job but was looking for a part time job to bring in some extra income for my family while I continue to pursue further education. So when they asked about my lifetime goals in this business I was honest and said that I do not want to be a locker room attendant the rest of my life but that i view it as a fantastic opportunity for a job while I am pursing education in what I hope to be my career else where. I dont think they liked when I answered the "is this a job or a career question" the same way.. It is a job to me. But i think for a MINIMUM WAGE CLEANING JOB, that should be OKAY. and that they should not want employees who view such a job as their life time goal.
Anyway I would never recommend this company or interview to anyone. I really don't think they care about getting to know you truly.
