      Senior Backend Engineer-Java Interview

      4 Mar 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Moniepoint in Feb 2024

      Interview

The process involves four stages: an online programming test, followed by the 2nd and 3rd technical interviews, and concluding with a final technical interview with the CTO. I'm really frustrated about the 1 month I wasted on this process. Firstly, they couldn't schedule the final CTO meeting promptly after the success 3rd interview despite numerous requests via the application source. When they finally set the meeting, they immediately tried to postpone it for two weeks without explanation. This indicated uncertainty in their hiring process. I said that I can't wait two more weeks since they keep postponing, so they reluctantly rescheduled it for two days later. The fact that they asked about salary expectations before rescheduling implies they were more concerned about money at the final step but the amount was already written in the job description. What's even more spectacular is that during the final interview, the CTO asked me the same questions as in the 2nd and 3rd interviews, attempting to gauge my technical level in just 30 minutes. It seemed they lacked coordination internally. Nevertheless, the interview went well from my perspective. Three days after the final interview, they sent me a rejection email, which was incredibly surprising. I felt confident after all the interviews, but it appears they have no clear direction. If you have plenty of time to spare and don't mind being rejected almost arbitrarily, then go ahead and interview with them, make sure you are providing your expectations before giving any time to process so they don't find an excuse to get rid of you later.
