      Communications Manager Interview

      4 Feb 2026
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Overland Park, KS
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Morton Salt (Overland Park, KS) in Oct 2023

      Interview

Very strange experience. After an initial phone screening, I met with two HR recruiters at their offices in Overland Park. I brought along my portfolio to show them writing samples. Both recruiters acted as though I'd committed an unspoken faux pas by inviting them to look through it. The rest of the interview progressed and, overall, it felt as though they were fulfilling some sort of quota by asking me in. That is strange given by color and gender.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Very basic interview questions to see if my skills aligned with a baseline communications role. Do I have experience working with senior leaders? Do I have social media experience? Have I written companywide messaging or lead communications campaigns? Would I be willing to travel?
