3 interviews: - first with the business manager (talking job requirements, asking about my background, career interests, motivations... basically making sure it was a good fit), - then with another designer + the head of design (focusing on my technical knowledge – no tests, just discussing my skills and answering a bunch of questions), - then with a director (the only in-office interview). The process moved quickly, which was great. An offer was made to me with the compensation breakdown and philosophy. Unfortunately, it was below my minimum acceptable salary. No negotiation – although the compensation was not shared with me from the beginning. 3 months later, they called me back saying they could make a better offer. The day I was supposed to meet the client, my interview got canceled with no explanation. When I asked why, it took them over 2 weeks to come up with an explanation – which was they were looking for someone with more SEO experience. This tells me the initial screening wasn't done right.
