The process started with a classic screening interview, which went smoothly. The recruiter was nice and professional, and I got invited to a second interview, i.e., a conversation with the hiring manager. I picked a time slot and even received a confirmation along with the invitation. However, that's where professionalism ended.
Just 50 minutes before the second interview, the interview was abruptly cancelled. The recruiter sent a generic email stating that, after careful review with the hiring team, they decided not to move forward with my application.
If they had any concerns about my fit for the role, the interview with the hiring manager would have been the perfect avenue to address them. Alternatively, if their doubts were signifiant enough to warrant a last minute cancellation, they should not have invited me to the second stage in the first place.
Cancelling so close to the scheduled, and twice confirmed, interview felt disrespectful of my time, particularly after I had extensively prepared for the interview and cleared my agenda.
