I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at National Research Council Canada (Montreal, QC) in Apr 2024
Interview
The interview lasted approximately two and a half hours. During this time, I conducted a presentation on my past projects. Three technical interviewers were present. The interview went well overall. However, the questions asked were very either basic or diverged significantly from the topic of my presentation. Despite attempting to maintain a positive atmosphere particularly with younger interviewers, the nature of their questions suggested they were not fully present during my presentation and they could not grasp the idea , which was somewhat weird (and little bit disrespectful) for such well-organised interview.
After that they started asking behavioural competency question which I had received 24 hours beforehand. The HR representative was really nice and he managed the session very well.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Super basic question if the solver that I have used is FEM or FDM while I have mentioned it is FEM during presentation.
Other basic question : for the optimisation algorithm that I have used, why there is an iterative procedure?...
and so on...
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at National Research Council Canada (Ottawa, ON)
Interview
Had an on site interview, lasted 3.5 hours, including a lab tour. Mostly asked about my research experience, what I have done during my PhD. They were concerned about the time I will finish PhD and start working.
