I didn't actually make it to the interview process, but I felt compelled to point out how impersonal and dehumanizing they managed to make a rejection notice.
About a week after applying, I got an automated letter letting me know I wasn't selected to go further. But in their email they stated "I appreciated the time you spent researching Neighborhoods.com, and the time you took to speak with me..."
Yet, I never spoke to anyone! Are they not aware of that? And who is this 'me' who was emailing me their thanks? Well, I couldn't tell you because they signed off the email with "Regards," and... no name in the signature.
Be better than this. It's bad enough to get rejection letters, you can at least have your sh*t together about whether you actually spoke to me.
Three round interview process
First interview, conversation directly with the QA lead.
Second interview, technical interview with QA lead and SWE lead
Third interview, offer negotiation with director
Very positive experience. Fluid and natural conversation. Asked detailed and direct questions, many investigative and clarifying questions pointed to my resume. Very transparent throughout the entire interview about the company's current needs and pain points.
Unfortunately, I didn't make the cut. But I would have been extremely happy to work under the command of such a great QA lead. He is very considerate and open minded. Felt like a great team member and leader.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Neighborhoods.com (Chicago, IL) in Jul 2021
Interview
The interview process consisted of about 3-4 steps:
1) A phone call from a recruiter to gauge your interest and fit for the position
2) A video call from the department's manager to further discuss the role, your previous experience, and a question/answer session to learn more about you and how you would handle certain customer service-related scenarios.
3) A video call with most, if not all, the team members of the department which provides an opportunity to meet and get to know your new teammates!
4) A video call with the department's Director to officially welcome you to the team. You are the preferred candidate and your job offer is imminent.
