      Senior Software Developer Interview

      6 Aug 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 6 days. I interviewed at New American Funding in Jul 2019

      Interview

      - Phone call with the company Recruter then a call with a location and time for an interview - On site interview with the dev team The interview was a powermonger game.. with a young under qualified Architect and 2 developers who had a so much attitude and down he was looking at me!! Enough to make you feel unwelcome They asked to fix some code they had in their own system.. but I found this a little none sense.. and asked him to show me the code instead of talking about it.. for 20 minutes!! The interview took almost 3 hours, and the team looked soo confused They asked questions right after each other before I answer the first one They seemed not sure what they want from a dev person.. I saw a lot of bad signs right at the door and I let their leader know that I was looking for a well structured company with equal opportunities to grow And I think that was enough to turn them off!!

      Interview

I don't even know what to say! I just wish I did read the reviews on glassdoor before I wasted my time on this very unprofessional organization. At first I had an interview with a hiring manager, it went very well. Then I had an interview with two arrogant underqualified mid to junior level developers! One of them was more than 10 minutes late, he had a very angry look on his face and barley said anything, didn't even say hi when he showed up, the other genius started with behavioral and personality questions and misinterpreted all my answers! made a lot of assumptions about me (my punctuality, my work ethics.. what I like and what I don't like and so on!) I was dumbfounded by all these questions and assumptions that I stop trying to correct any wrong assumption they made! this lasted for 20 minutes until they asked me if I have any questions for them, I was still dumfounded and said no! then they said they have no more questions and ended the interview, yes the interview lasted 20 minutes! Basically they just wasted my time, it took two weeks to schedule the first interview with the hiring manager, and another week before we scheduled the technical interview only to be ridiculed for 20 minutes. I still can't believe how rude and clueless these guys are. Why on earth were these guys asking none technical questions? I already had an interview with the hiring manager! I have no idea how this company function. The only conclusion I can make is that they already settled on another candidate before they interviewed me, but decided to be professional for once and not cancel my interview! I wish they did cancel it, that would had been more professional! I really hope this organization doesn't hire any good employee, they don't deserve any better than the ones they have! Avoid by all means

      Senior Software Engineer Interview

      6 Feb 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Los Angeles, CA
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at New American Funding (Los Angeles, CA) in Feb 2023

      Interview

I had the interview a day ago, and I’m not going to wait for feedback before I write this review!! The experience was too bad that even in the unlikely event of receiving an offer, I won’t consider it. The interview included three steps 1- A quick screening by a very well organized and friendly recruiter. 2- An hour video call with two friendly directors, was asked some behavioral and technical questions, over all very nice experience. So far, I had a very good impression. 3- Next day I received a call from the recruiter to schedule a 3rd interview (technical). Then I had what is BY FAR the weirdest and least professional interview I ever had! A mid-level developer that was leading the interview! and a senior developer that was a spectator for the most part! It started with “why did you leave your previous job” which was kind of weird since I had a previous interview with two managers! you'd think the developers conducting a technical interview will assume I was already asked this question, anyway I answered and didn't think much of it. The next question was (again by the mid-level developer) "Why are you applying for a senior position, you were an architect in your previous job, are you just trying to get your foot through the door and then rapidly get a promotion??!!" At that point I was very tempted to conclude the interview, I could see were this is going, but I thought I will entertain this charade a little bit. The interview lasted 33 minutes, during which I was NOT asked a single direct technical question!!! Only few silly and pointless questions. "What is your favorite C# feature? Did you ever use (insert random technology that isn’t listed on the job description or on my resume) These guys clearly didn’t want someone with more experience on the team, and the nerves on that kid asking behavioral questions!! Like at best this shows me that you have no faith or trust in your managers and you think you can do a better job analyzing my answers than them!! But of course, it wasn’t about that, they just didn’t want someone with more relevant experience on the team. The Management share the blame, this is a company with a ton of legacy applications, and they just started modernizing their applications, moving to the cloud and applying a micro-service architecture, and yet they picked a midlevel developer that never worked on a big project before (his LinkedIn profile states that he was a tech support until a year ago) to conduct the interview and ask questions about things he has no experience with! Clearly there is no oversight in this company! A tech support is suddenly architecting their applications! did they really think he would want any sort of competition. Overall, a very bad experience and a very bad reflection on how decisions are made in this company!
