I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at New York Life in Jan 2011
Interview
The interview process started with the HR. I interviewed with HR for about 40 minutes. She then sent me to the Dept to meet with the hiring managers. I met with a CVP and an AVP. The interview with the CVP was about an hour and the questions were very specific. I then met with the AVP and it took about 45 minutes. Once again, the questions were very specific. At the end of the interview I had a good idea what the job entailed. I was then call again for another interview with a senior VP. That interview was very good and lasted for about an hour.
After the last interview, I waited for another 3 weeks before I was called with an offer. I then accepted the offer and started the job within the next 3 weeks.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at New York Life (New York, NY) in Nov 2025
Interview
A personality assessment was emailed to be completed before the first interview. Next was the initial screening Zoom call with manager discussing role. After that interview I was invited to a career opportunity group zoom interview. Then after that group zoom you meet back with the original hiring manager for the final interview and project presentation with the initial manager.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Do you prefer working on a team or as an individual?
Was brief, mostly looking for a personality that matches the job and more so with your actual manager that you will be working with and not the entire company. Had about 3 different interviews and did some exercises that would show a little bit more about who I was and what kind of personal - not work related - experiences I had.

There isn’t much of an interview for this position. It’s honestly more of an opportunity for them to get you excited to join. There’s a reason 90% of new agents do not make it through their first year. It certainly isn’t undoable from my limited research but it feels very MLM in their organization.
