You send in an audition tape of you teaching at minimum two people in one of their locations. They also ask you to send another tape of why you would like to work at New York Pilates.
Unfortunately, I did not get an offer. I do appreciate their professionalism in giving me a call to tell me they were not offering me a position at this time. With that being said, being told, "we will pass for now," is extremely unprofessional. There are more professional ways to phrase things. My schedule did not align and they wanted to see more energy from me. They encouraged me to audition again in four months.
My advice to the hiring committee is to consider another way of hiring instructors. I do not think an audition tape of 20 minutes is enough to show someone's skill. I have been teaching many clients for years and they love my style of teaching. It is their loss, not mine.
