      Product Manager Interview

      18 Jun 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at New York Times

      Interview

Worst hiring process. Let me tell you, if this is not the only opportunity, please just look elsewhere. Initial phone screening happened, then no response for two months even after multiple follow ups. Then all of a sudden got an email that they would like to move me to an onsite. I had 5 interviews with the people, and the recruiter assured me that she will get back to me right after the onsite. No one got back to me. I followed up 2-3 times and all ignored. What a bunch of ego centric people that don’t have decency to reach out to candidates with a decision. I landed a job at FANG. Good thing I didn’t get an offer from NYT as I would never work for a company that treats a prospect like this. It shows well how they would treat employees.

Recruiter call was pretty straightforward. After that, I talked to hiring manager and people manager. The questions are quite simple, but they look for ppl who show NYT missions and values.

      Interview

First I had a phone screen, and then a video call with the hiring manager. The phone screen was very informal and casual, whereas the interview with the hiring manager was more structured and had questions that were relevant to the specific team and role.
