The entire process is much like you would expect (Email correspondence, phone screening, face-to-face with the recruiter, in person office visit, and final review). They are really big on finding the right employee for the company and culture. The whole process took about 3-4 weeks, mainly because the new director was hired in the middle of the process. I am sure the process is intended to take about 2 weeks, but I started at a transitional time for NDN.
The recruiter, who is no longer with the company (completed his contract), was great and related well to most of the people he was reaching out [I knew a couple of them]. Correspondence was quick and informative. The only thing that was weird about the face-to-face was he didn't buy my coffee. It's not a big deal, but when reaching out to candidates it's definitely a nice gesture. I did ask the recruiter about the Glassdoor reviews, as they are not that great (2.6). He said there were a lot of bitter people who were fired or left after a recent reorganization. The company was very flat and then brought in department heads and VPs. If you look most of the poor reviews date from Jan-Mar, which matched his explanation.
I flew past the first couple of stages and went in for an in person within about 8 business days. Their office is located on Lenox in Buckhead so it was a traffic filled day. Once I got to the office everything went really smooth. I met with several current employees and leads. However, the highlight of the process was speaking with Mimi, VP People. Her insights and observations are astonishing. I could sit and talk to her all day, and wish I could. She is one of the main reasons I was sold on this job and company. This is where the process slowed due the new director, Stephanie, being hired. I had several conversations with Stephanie and was excited about the possibility of working with her. The vision and path she had for NDN was right up my alley.
I was offered the job. I had a counter-offer from my previous employer and NDN didn't budge. They are not in the habit to change their initial offer. I was kind of surprised by the response I got when I told them about the other offer, basically "take it or leave it". In the end, the AM role offered more growth and opportunity than my previous employment, so I took the role.
