I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Northwestern Mutual in Jul 2008
Interview
They just seemed more interested in any wealthy potential clients I could bring them instead of my skills or accolades. They wanted to me to provide them with phone numbers and addresses. The HR person was nice enough but spent a lot of time taking notes rather than listening. The whole interview process was vague and drawn out. I didn't get past the first round, didn't meet their personality standards on their online testing. It wasn't for me anyway.
You're not really working for NWMF. You're working for a franchise. My business professors loathe their HR and prospects/leads gathering methodology. Some feel its boarderline unethical.
There were four or five interviews, if you count the meeting with my future mentor. There were also a few personality assessments. Lots of paperwork. The finance industry is tightly regulated.
The first interview was easygoing and went fairly well. We talked a little on myself and what northwestern was all about. Because they wanted to see how I could fit in to their team and what I would bring.
I interviewed at Northwestern Mutual (Greenville, SC)
Interview
The process was smooth and straight forward. A lot of behavioral based questions, but relaxed and low stress. First phase is a phone screening followed by a teams or in person meeting.
