I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Northwestern Mutual
Interview
It was a three-step interview process. Phone prescreen, in-person, and phone once again. It was not too bad. Understand and show how you could benefit the company. The first phone interview basically consisted of getting to know who you are as a person. This would help them see if you are culturally fit for the particular type of business. In-person, I got a closer look at what my day-to-day life would be like as an intern, a project that I would be responsible for completing in about a week, and showed them a presentation. The last phase of the interview process basically laid the foundation of what Northwestern Mutual offers to clients.

Question 1
How could you stand out from the rest of the interns?
There were four or five interviews, if you count the meeting with my future mentor. There were also a few personality assessments. Lots of paperwork. The finance industry is tightly regulated.
The first interview was easygoing and went fairly well. We talked a little on myself and what northwestern was all about. Because they wanted to see how I could fit in to their team and what I would bring.

The process was smooth and straight forward. A lot of behavioral based questions, but relaxed and low stress. First phase is a phone screening followed by a teams or in person meeting.
