This was for an RA position with an Economics professor. I had an initial phone interview with the professor's assistant, asking about my math and Stata background. I was also asked about my work preferences (do I like working alone, do I like being micromanaged etc.), and I was asked about my long-term career goals. About 3 weeks later I was contacted for a Skype interview with the professor. The professor asked similar questions (research background, skills, math courses, etc.) but also some hard-hitting questions: "Why are you not applying to Econ PhD programs now?". I did not pass this round, but if you did, you were sent a problem set to do.
