Recruiter reached out to me via Linkedin. I went through two phone screens with the recruiter on consecutive days (why not condense this into one?), followed by a description of next steps consisting of the following:
1) Personality and Wonderlic Style IQ Test (which was video-recorded)
2) 1:1 Interview with the hiring manager
3) Case Project to be presented to the team
4) Final interview with a member of leadership
Got through the personality test and IQ test, apparently I "did quite well". Moved on to the hiring manager conversation and received positive feedback, which meant the next step was the case project.
The case consisted of two phases
1) Please present a scope of the e-commerce space and Numerator's competition.
2) If hired for the Product Director role, what would your product roadmap be and how would you complete it (with detailed steps)?
This assignment felt EXTREMELY parallel to the role and honestly seemed more like consulting work, but I was laid off a few months ago and didn't want to risk my candidacy by pushing back. I completed the assignment, presented my deck, and after reaching out the next week received a voicemail that I did well and would be moving on as a finalist.
Then they never followed up, nor did they respond to further follow-up emails or voicemail messages.
This would suggest that they're either using the interview process to mine unemployed people for industry information and then ghosting them, or just ghosting them after a 10+ hour commitment. Regardless, it's either exploitative and inconsiderate or just regular inconsiderate.
An apology and an explanation would be nice, I put a lot of time into this process.
