The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at ONCI (London, England) in Sept 2018
Interview
Had the phone interview with 2 algorithm questions. The questions are very easy. Was invited for the face to face interview. Supposed to be 4h with various peoples.
They were so unorganised. The first hour was to interview with a senior python developer in the meeting room without white board. So we start writing questions and answer on the glass. It takes me a while to look at the messy writing to understand what he meant and offer the solutions. He suggested a more efficient complexity. So we work it out together in the end.
There was no break in between.
I was moved to a different room with a white board this time. The second guy was also a python developer. Asked me to solve 2 other questions. Similar to the first round, solved them and optimised the solutions.
There is no break then I was supposed to meet with another guy but he wasn’t aware of the meeting event tho he was the one that interviewed me on the phone. So he didn’t turn up and let me wait for 15 mins in the room myself.
Later one of the guy turn up, write another algorithm question on the board and ask me to solve it. He is also a python developer. I solve it. He change the input parameters and asked me to solve it. I solve it but he wasn’t think the complexity is good enough. I agree but explain it to him that it is JavaScript built in function. There is no such things Stack, Queue or Dictionaries in JavaScript. If I want to use it, I need built it and use it. He was the rudest and most arrogant person I have ever met. He asked a question, I tried to explained but he stopped me multiple times and never let me finish my explanation. He then tried to explain his solution in Python. It is really unfair because I am not python developer and the JS and Python are fundamentally different. Solving algorithm questions in JS is not the same like Python.
Anyway, I asked some question because I was genuine interested in what they are building but the guy answered with no interest.
At the beginning of the interview they promise to let me see their product as it is B2B. The guy denied and said he couldn’t do that?!.
In the end he just let me out. It is more like kicking out an uninvited guest.
I apply for React-redux JavaScript roles but mostly to deal with algorithm questions and expected me to offer solutions similar to python.
I am more interested in the feedbacks on those white board coding. Hence, I asked for feedbacks but they ignored it. So unprofessional and shameful. I showed great interest in the company and make their time to various interview and what I asked for is feedbacks and nothing back.
I have been to many interviews in myself and this is the worst experience ever. I would never want to work for people like them . You should respect the candidate because you are the one that invite them over. I don’t know how high up you are, treat people with respect.
