Total waste of time.
I had a phone screen setup. I spent 2 hours researching the company, product, mission, culture, values, and strategy. Showed them a lot of respect for a simple phone screen to demonstrate my knowledge, ambition, drive, and passion for the company. Lady told me I would speak with a hiring manager next.
After the interview, I sent them a thank you email for her time. No response. I thought, oh, since it's the weekend, it's fine. Monday, Tuesday, and finally Wednesday came, and still no response. I sent them one more email during this time, asking for status or nudging them for the next step, because it's time sensitive in that I am talking with other companies too. No response.
Then FINALLY, the person responded and said that the hiring manager was out of office, that's why there's been no response. Really? What does hiring manager being out of the office have to do with you not giving me a response? She then promised she would put a calendar entry in the hiring manager's schedule to talk to me.
Fast forward a week later, I got a response saying they moved on.
First of all, I'm not writing a negative review because they moved on. That's fine, and I have expectations that a reasonable number of companies will move on from candidates. That's fine.
I really found displeasure from them dragging me on saying I'll have a next step, not responding to my emails, not showing any level of respect for time for their candidates, and then simply rejecting.
I'm a little peeved writing this e-mail, because I genuinely think they wasted and disrespected my time. If this is how their phone screen process is like, I can't imagine next steps, or even working there.
I will not be recommending Okta to any friends wishing to apply there.
Treat your candidates with respect.
