I interviewed for a UX Copywriter role (and I am more than qualified) and went through 5 rounds of interviews. I received high praise from each individual with whom I met, and the hiring manager even asked me if I was entertaining offers with any other companies because she was going to inform HR to put together an offer for me. Fast forward 8 weeks--no offer, no feedback, no call, no email. I reached out to the HR recruiter (who I had spoken to several times), and she didn't even remember who I was. She stammered through a weak explanation that I was "still among the top candidates." Huh? Top candidates? I thought I was *the choice.* She said the team would gather and make their decision "next Friday." That was 3 weeks ago. As someone who previously worked in HR management, this is a disgusting, time-wasting, demoralizing practice. Ghosting candidates is never a good look for a company. Common courtesy and decency always wins.
