I recently interviewed for the Billing & Collections Specialist position at OpenExchange. The initial conversation with leadership was thoughtful and detailed, and I appreciated the chance to share my experience and learn more about the company’s focus on collaboration and precision.
However, there were a few things that left me disappointed. The interview was unexpectedly with senior leadership, rather than a recruiter, which caught me off guard. One interviewer joined the call while traveling, and the call dropped due to the connection issues. This made it feel like the interview wasn’t given full attention.
After the call, I followed up professionally but didn’t receive a response. Instead, I received a standard rejection email sent through a system. While I respect their decision and understand hiring is competitive, the lack of personal follow-up after a live interview with leadership made the process feel impersonal.
Overall, while I appreciated learning more about the company, I hope they revisit how they handle communication and candidate experience—especially when interviews are led by executives.
