      Railroad Transloader Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at PSC Group (Taylor, TX) in Jan 2025

      Interview

I recently applied for a position completely outside my current scope but well within my abilities at PSC Group. They initially impressed me with their employee retention, an impeccable safety record, and in depth training of their employees. However, that is about where it ends sadly. After I applied I received a text wanting to know if I wanted to fast track my application, anyone in need of would have answered yes as I did. I then received a confirmation and was asked to conduct a video response to a series of questions, odd but ok maybe this is how things are done these days? Post submitting the video replies I was asked to schedule a online interview using Calendly, which I did. The meeting was a week out so I took the time to prepare. The date of the meeting, scheduled for 9:00am, was canceled 10 minutes prior via an email from the same utility, seriously unprofessional. The reason given was that the position was canceled, odd it was still listed online. At this point I washed my hands and continued my search. But wait, there's more... I received a follow up text, apparently they were still interested. Alright, I replied, needing work, and received no reply. I emailed the HR representative, still nothing. I called the number provided in the email which goes to a Google number and left a polite voicemail, this repeated twice and I never received a return call. As I was getting nowhere with this I took to social media and messaged them privately explaining the difficulty I was having getting in touch with HR in replying to the texts and the inability to schedule a meeting with Calendly due to no available dates. That the process being used was broken. The following day I received a call from the HR contact and we conducted a brief phone interview and scheduled an onsite interview for a Thursday. Being currently unemployed I accepted and ensured I knew where the location was, test drive the day before, took note of alternate routes (this came in handy), and the time needed. Ensured I knew who the POC was to be, etc. Thursday rolls around I make myself presentable, bring a few additional copies of my resume in a folder, and arrive at my destination. Made my way inside and was greeted warmly by a worker who politely directed me to an area within the building where I would find the POC I asked for, I kindly thanked him and proceeded. When I was asked if I could be helped I advised I was looking for my POC and had an interview scheduled for 9:00am, I arrived about 10 minutes prior as I would normally, old habits.. I made my way to the directed area and introduced myself again advising I was looking for my POC and that I was to have an interview. This caused a flurry of activity as they had no inclination I was coming. The POC I was to speak with, no longer worked for the company. The day of the interview was wrong, Thursday. Apparently they only conduct interviews on Friday. I met with great folks on the ground, very polite, apologetic, and I was asked if I might be able to return the following day, to which I agreed and did so. The interview went well, they seemed interested as did I. There were somethings that were not in the posting, clean shaven, not a deal breaker and I fully understood the ask, working around and with Ethanol, needing to wear a respirator. The need for steel toed boots, again not an issue, they do offer a partial reimbursement up to $75 dollars. Post interview I was advised that if I had any additional questions I could follow up with HR and if they were unable to answer they would forward them to the site and get an answer and reply. Post interview I did enquire regarding boots, I have a pair that while not steel toe are composite and made to a high standard, I noted this in the email, and asked if this would meet or exceed the requirements. I advised if they did not obtaining a different pair would not be an issue. My thought here was that being out of work if I could use what I already had on hand vs. spending money where things are tight. From that point on I was completely ghosted. No replies to my inquiry whatsoever, complete and deafening silence. I would not recommend this company due to their shady practices and inability communicate internally, HR to the folks on the site.

      Question 1

I was asked if I would have an issue taking/following orders from someone younger than myself.
