I was contacted by a recruiter after applying through LinkedIn. She set up a phone interview with one of the team members in their accounting group for me to speak with. The interview went well. He asked me about my current background, why I chose Palantir, and what area of accounting I was most interested in. This was my first interview in over 2 years, therefore I was lacking a little in confidence. Especially since I have read that Palantir was one of the toughest companies to interview with.
Despite that fact, I received an invitation about a week later for a casual meeting with another team member from the group. The meeting, again, went well. We went around to the corner coffee shop, spoke a little bit about the Palantir culture, their two product lines, our backgrounds, and what a typical day is like at Palantir. Both people I spoke with loved the unique culture of the company and said it was the best place they've been at (both are from Big 4's).
Again, I was invited back to Palantir for a more formal interview. This time, it was with about 5 team members. Four from accounting and one from FP&A (&A as it is referred to at Palantir). Everybody from accounting was warm and friendly. Very laid back, not formal at all. Each interviewer asked me the standard interview questions such as background, strengths, weaknesses, and why Palantir. Each person also asked me a reasoning question, which I felt I answered competently. I built a good rapport with everyone I spoke with except for the gentleman from &A. After greeting him, I noticed he was the only one who did not have a copy of my resume. Therefore I handed him one of my copies. He didn't look at it, asked me the same questions, and thanked me for my time. He also asked me the most difficult reasoning question, or maybe I felt it was difficult because my answer was not what he was looking for.
I followed up with the recruiter the next day after each of my interviews. About a week after my 3rd interview, I received a generic email that told me that I was not being offered the position. I had a lot of enthusiasm with Palantir and decide to reach out to the recruiter again. I emailed her to inquire about a more entry level position in their finance group that I also came across on LinkedIn. I was hoping that I was not accepted for the accounting role because of my minimal experience and not because they did not feel I, as an individual, was not a good fit for the company. She kindly replied back and stated that I would not be considered for the Finance Rotation position. I appreciated her honest reply versus a no reply at all.
