I first had a phone call with HR, which was a pleasant enough conversation. She asked me why I was interested in the position, what skills I brought to the table, etc. I felt pretty good about my prospects. A few days later, I had a video interview with a developer. The interview did not go well. I am pretty inexperienced (but willing to learn) with regards to coding, and the interviewer did not seem to understand that. He kept on talking vaguely about possibilities for the position, meandering from topic to topic. Nothing concrete.
Only after I emphasized multiple times that I probably did NOT have the requisite knowledge for this position did he begin to test me. This was totally unexpected, and I was unprepared. He also looked through my resume/portfolio for what appeared to be the first time. That was uncomfortable, and I found it extremely unprofessional.
After that, the whole thing turned sour, and I didn't leave with a good impression of the company. The developer did not conclude the interview with a concrete follow-up, such as, "We'll talk to you in a few days," or even "We are looking for someone with more experience at the moment." It was just like, "Bye." So I'm assuming that I didn't get the job.
