I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Parkopedia in Jan 2024
Interview
Reached the end of a 5 step process (including take home test) over around a month, which up until then had been mainly centred around Data Engineering skills including knowledge of Spark, streaming data, experience deploying ML models as well as knowledge of Python and what kind of projects I had worked on.
Final interview went much more into DevOps/On prem IT skills which hadn't been brought up at all by this point and wasn't mentioned in the job spec. I could tell the interview had tanked as soon as I said I didn't have experience with Linux.
The final interview was also done virtually but I was asked to come into the office, which didn't make much sense.
Overall it was a long but pleasant experience up until the end where it was clear they wanted someone with stronger DevOps skills, which is fine if it had come up previously rather than after almost a whole month.
Pleasant interviewer but proceeded to ask a long set of trivia based questions which is always a red flag.
Everybody needs a core set of knowledge but asking the meaning of random commands in bits of disparate Software ? Not exactly a way to gauge a discerning understanding of systems or programming if you ask me...
Hope it works out for them
