I interviewed with Parsec Education for an IT/Cybersecurity role and didn’t move forward. The entire process and role definition felt inconsistent and not well thought out.
The interview process started with a 30-minute phone call with HR that felt more like a personality check than a technical screen. From there, I was invited to a 1-hour onsite interview in a conference room.
The onsite interview was all over the place. They asked about:
How to secure an environment with little to no existing security controls
How long it would take to implement SOC 2 for B2B clients
Whether you’re comfortable talking directly to clients
Basic IT tasks like running network cable
Why you switch roles every 2–3 years
It felt like they were trying to hire one person to handle help desk work, infrastructure, cybersecurity, compliance, and client communication all at once. The expectations leaned heavily toward senior-level security/compliance work, but without any clear indication they understand what it takes to build that from scratch.
The process itself also lacked professionalism—there was no clear follow-up. You’re essentially expected to reach out yourself weeks later to find out if they made a decision, which isn’t a great candidate experience.
