First of all, the job title in the posting was a bit vague. On Indeed it was "Traffic, Client Services", but the recruiter constantly referred to it as the Chartist role. It's basically an ad trafficking/scheduling role that requires interfacing with a lot of Pattison's Account Executives/Sales Reps scattered across the country.
Applied in mid-October and got a phone screen request about a week later. Phone screen itself was rather stilted and the recruiter could really benefit from a reevaluation of their approach to applicants. Super awkward when it came to asking questions and didn't have great phone etiquette. No behavioural question or even the usual things employers tend to ask, like explaining how your experience meshes to the job or do you have any experience doing X. Asked about things like if I liked puzzles (I do, but how is that relevant?) and if I was comfortable working on a rotational basis at their office in Burnaby during the pandemic. Not sure why the company is insisting on having you go to their office in this WFH era, with COVID cases still rising in BC. Certainly does give a little pause for thought.
At least when the recruiter asked what my salary expectations are and I responded in kind, they were frank enough to say that the hiring manager had a specific range in mind ($40-45k) and was pretty firm on this. Didn't have to waste his time or mine, so appreciated the heads up.
