      Underwriting Associate Interview

      14 Nov 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Pie Insurance

      Interview

Pretty typical, after applying there was a phone screen with the recruiter for 15-20 minutes that was basic about myself. Then there was a phone call with the team lead, which turned out to be 1 hour and 10 minutes, few questions asked but was more of a conversation. After that was the in person interview which consisted of 3 1/2 hours on site for 3 1 hour interviews with 2 individuals each time. Some questions we're asked but it was more of just conversations regarding experience or insurance, overall I wouldn't call the interview process hard and I appreciated it was more of a conversation to get to know me rather than just a bunch of what if and tell me a time when questions. I was going to rate this as neutral but its what happened after the interview that makes it negative for me. After the in person I received an email saying they were going to decline me for the position. Which is fine, but they stated "the team did not feel like your experience would align with our current expectations." I replied just asking for feedback on what I was lacking experience wise or what they we're looking for experience wise so I could know what to work on or what experience I would need to be considered for the role later. After a week, no answer. Based on the email they seem to have a reason so I don't understand now why there's silence from them. From what I gather and from the negative review online I get the feeling like this is more of a social club or cool kids place where it's based on whether or not you 'fit in' with the group rather than experience or talent. Online they don't have any required qualifications except a degree is preferred, makes it seem like they just want friends like I mentioned above. I was interviewed by someone who wore a Batman costume with a cape so that was a first, and no it wasn't Halloween when I interviewed.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Pie Insurance in Aug 2021

      Interview

I received an initial e-mail from the Sr. Corporate Recruiter to schedule a phone screening. The recruiter was polite and asked questions that were representative of the position I applied. All went well and a Zoom Call interview was then offered with an Underwriting Associate Team Lead at the hiring location.

The interview was more conversational around how my current skillset could make an impact at Pie.

      Anonymous employee
      Denver, CO
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Pie Insurance (Denver, CO) in Jan 2021

      Interview

I was referred by a friend that works at this company and it could not have been an easier more enjoyable process. Be prepared for several interviews with several people, likely multiple on the same day. My experience was a mix of both interview questions but also a significant portion of just chatting and getting to know the company/them getting to know me. Highly recommend applying!
