      Customer Success Interview

      17 Apr 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Seattle, WA
      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at PitchBook (Seattle, WA) in Mar 2016

      Interview

My process started very positive before taking a turn for the worse. I exchanged emails with the recruiter and set up a screening call. She was very upbeat and was able to answer all of my questions very well. I was unsure about the company but after speaking with her, I was really excited and I could hear how genuinely happy she was working at PitchBook. She spoke very positively of the Customer Success team which made me excited to meet them. I was asked to come in and meet with the team. While I was waiting in the lobby there were 2 other people also waiting for interviews that the recruiter took back right before me, which makes me think she had 3 interviews at one time so they are definitely looking to grow quickly. I met with two managers on the team, it was an average interview. They were friendly and I could see myself working with them. I then met with the Managing Director, he was very short and low energy. I had to wait for a long time for him to even get into the interview and once he arrived it seemed like he wanted to be elsewhere. This kind of behavior comes from the top down and unfortunately if the Managing Director of the team isn't invested in growing his team then it is only a matter of time all managers on the team are exhibiting this behavior. When the recruiter came back in and asked me how the interview was, I said in a polite way that he seemed very busy, she confirmed that he was very busy but continued to speak very highly of him specifically. I feel bad that the recruiter is working so hard to bring in skilled people and then management of the company is what is holding them back. It ended up being a waste of my time to get through the interview process and find at the end I wouldn't want to work for someone that has no time for his team. I hope the other two people in the lobby had a better experience than I did.

      Interview

Met with three people. They asked about my customer service experience and if I had experience/knowledge about the fintech industry. Seemed to have a very “frat bro” atmosphere, and I think both sides realized it wasn’t a good fit.

      Anonymous employee
      Seattle, WA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at PitchBook (Seattle, WA) in Oct 2017

      Interview

Phone screen, on-site interview with hiring managers, mock call with hiring managers, reference check. HR was very responsive and helpful throughout the process. They definitely want to make sure they're hiring a good fit for the company.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

There were a lot of questions about overcoming objections in a sales role. There were also questions about values to gauge how the candidate fits in the culture.

      Customer Success Interview

      12 Apr 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Seattle, WA
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at PitchBook (Seattle, WA)

      Interview

I had a phone screen and then was selected to come into the office for an interview. This is when the issue started. I'm a passive candidate and have a full time role in CS so appointments get scheduled fast and this interview was going to take up half the day. She gives me 1 time and the parking instructions. What happened to asking when I was available? I emailed the recruiter back to let her know when I'd be available that week, she didn't respond. A week later she sends an e-mail again prompting me to schedule for an interview and I give her a time that would work well. The day before the time I gave her, she e-mails 'great see you tomorrow'. Well, without that confirmation that it was scheduled, my calendar was already booked. I e-mailed and apologized while prompting a new time the following week. She doesn't email me back for another week and then confirms that the new time would work for her. At that point, I had such a bad taste in my mouth from their clumsy recruiting that I declined to come in but thanked her for the opportunity. Your recruiters are the first touch that a potential team member gets from PitchBook- make sure that they are treated well and they will reciprocate.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

They ask a lot of questions on what PitchBook does so be prepared to know your terms! The other questions are pretty mandatory, like how you deal with multitasking etc.
