I was rejected by this company for three different roles, each set of feedback confusing. I was automatically rejected for the first role, citing wrong “tech stack” - which doesn’t make any sense, as I have full stack experience. I was then interviewing for another role, interpreted as too technical, then passed to a different role, but ultimately didn’t show enough “autonomy.” I literally have no idea what this means, as I’ve built my own things for over a decade. The more I read the last rejection, the more absurd it gets, “we were impressed by your technical skills” — they had me go through two “technical interviews” that were entirely behavioral, I’m not confident they actually know what my technical skills are. While I was passed to the third role, I noticed that the job descriptions had gone down and never went back up, in spite of the talent team telling me they were still hiring. I think I would feel better about the rejection if it felt more honest, like maybe they don’t know what they want and need to rewrite the job description, aren’t hiring, or have just hired and need some time — don’t tell me it’s about my lack of “autonomy.” This makes their handbook content about “make it public” or “transparency” or goals about creating a sustainable community seem performative and not authentic.
