I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Pratt & Whitney (East Hartford, CT) in Jun 2022
Interview
I was first contacted by a recruiter. They did a phone interview and said they would set up a meeting with the hiring manager shortly (this took two weeks while I was already laid off from my previous job; not making any money).
Once I had the first interview with the hiring manager, I was told he would reach back out to me soon but was told he had like 5 other people to interview first (at this point I had no expectation of getting the job; telling an interviewee that you have several candidates after you implies you did not impress them). I waited another week and heard nothing, so I reached out to the HR contact and they only said no decisions were made at that time. At this point (3 weeks out of work), I interviewed elsewhere, got a job offer on the spot, and took a different job. Two weeks later from that point, I get called asking for the second interview which I do reluctantly, and they say they should get back to me within the next couple of days. *6 WEEKS LATER* HR calls me with a salary offer 15% below what I was already making with the other new job, they refuse to raise their offer so I decline the job. They call me back a week later, raising it 10% , I explain to them I would still be losing money and I said no again. Then the director of department calls me directly explaining I would be missing a golden opportunity and I reluctantly accepted (I would have been much happier where I was and deeply regret coming to Pratt and dealing with the bureaucracy.)

I applied through university. I interviewed at Pratt & Whitney in Sept 2025
Interview
1 on 1 with an engineer day after meeting recruiters. Mix of behavioral and technical questions, asked me about experience + past tasks at internships. It seemed like they were hiring directly for their team, location preference didn’t matter.

Is just one interview with the hiring manager is not a big complex interview. Just be chill and know your projects very well. They will ask standard interview question like if you need to meet a deadline what do you do. What is your vision for 5 o 10 years.
