The application process moved relatively quickly; I received an invitation for an introductory kickoff interview about a week after applying.
The Interview Experience:
The initial 30-minute HR screening was highly unconventional. There was no introduction to the company culture or the specifics of the role. Instead, the interviewer immediately asked for my elevator pitch, followed by two behavioral questions regarding team communication, managing pushback, and peer perception.
The questioning concluded abruptly at the 15-minute mark. When I asked for details about the product and position, the responses felt rushed and disengaged. The technical and structural depth of the behavioral questions felt mismatched for an initial HR screening and would have been much better suited for a hiring manager. The rigid nature of the interaction gave the impression that responses were being evaluated against a strict algorithmic or AI-driven scorecard rather than a natural conversation.
Outcome & Takeaway:
I received an automated rejection email shortly after. For future candidates, be prepared for intense behavioral screening right from the first round, even when speaking with non-technical recruitment staff.
