The interview process is pretty extensive; I'm sure it is designed to make sure you are a good fit. I respect that in any organization. I have always worked in government jobs, and the application/interview process was nothing compared to Progressive. I completed the application, then did the online questionnaire. It wasn't hard. After that, I had an hour long phone interview. The recruiter was very personable. I passed the phone interview, so the background check was initiated. I guess I passed that, as I then had a face to face interview with the facility manager. He was great. He was nice, and made me feel at ease. The interview was almost an hour and a half. There was someone else waiting for an interview, as a staff member tapped on the window of the room we were in to let him know. I asked one or two questions; had a few more to ask, but didn't want to hold up the schedule. He did tell me that we didn't need to rush, and to call and ask if I had anymore questions. I have never worked in the private sector, so I did have a little difficulty linking situations to some of the questions asked. They definitely use the STAR method. It isn't hard, you just have to focus on the steps, and make sure you apply your responses using that format. I guess that's where I didn't do well, as I just heard back that they were not offering me the position. I am disappointed, as I wasn't sure I even wanted to work in the private sector, until I met the manager for the face to face interview. I felt he would be a supportive supervisor. I guess my destiny is staying with government jobs.
